Job Description
Based on specific stated objectives perform analysis, design, or test of one or more complex materials, structural components or functional systems of company products. Without detailed direction, study basic design concepts and criteria for assigned complex materials, components, or functional systems to ascertain the engineering principles involved and to adopt features from previously successful designs of a similar nature. With general direction, plan, prepare, and complete the design of assigned complex components and functional systems. Study the operation of systems, select major components to meet functional and operational requirements, and determine the optimum location and arrangement from an engineering, manufacturing, and service standpoint. Direct the more detailed analysis and design and follow up to assure compliance with original philosophy and good engineering execution.
• Perform complex engineering analysis, test, design and/or development. Design and development components, software and/or hardware. Perform preliminary/original design and analysis.
• Develop test programs to evaluate new materials or the assign portion of the project/program. Establish the type and extent of operating conditions to be simulated and devise major equipment, instrumentation and original simulation methods. Take complete charge of the testing phase.
• Plan strategies for engineering analysis, test and design used for task planning
• Document results of analysis, test and design. Generate documentation for article being engineered. Prepare presentation and present results verbally.
• Interact with senior customer personnel on significant technical matters, often requiring coordinated activity across organizational lines. Represent the organization as a contact on projects or contracts.
• Perform research for related engineering projects.

Experience:
Four years of related experience is required. No supervisory experience required.

Education:
A Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics or equivalent experience is required.

Additional Job Requirements:
• BS in relevant field minimum required with 5+ years direct experience in Spacecraft or Aerospace vehicle design.
• Must have a detailed knowledge of all aspects of Spacecraft or Aerospace vehicle design and implementation, design/analysis of spacecraft electrical components, and subsystems.
• Strong written and verbal comm. skills w/the ability to interact at all levels w/employees, customers and subcontractors.
• Cost Account Mgmt (CAM) skills, incl.: estimating, scheduling, earned value planning and variance analysis.
• Project supervisory skills. Must be able to manage a small team of engineers, who will be assigned to the CAM for the duration of the project. These skills include but are not limited to daily technical supervision. Experience in the management of subcontractors and suppliers. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. Experience with NASA human rating requirements and programs, desired.
• Experience in the successful execution of rapid development and test programs, desired.
